SREO Consulting was co-founded in 2013 by Matt Trevithick and Daniel Seckman in order to provide a completely impartial, unbiased and objective view of what is actually happening on the ground in communities affected by violence, natural disaster, and strife across the developing world. Veterans of the Middle East and Central Asia with on-the-ground experience in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Jordan and a combined 15 years in Afghanistan, Matt and Daniel were alarmed by the flood of analysis emerging on the region authored by folks ensconced in far away buildings characterized overwhelmingly by a noteworthy disconnect between vision and reality. The results of this approach are on full display in the daily headlines from around the globe. Thinking there had to be a better way, Matt and Daniel saved a few bucks, bought a good coffee machine, rented a cheap room in a small corner of a nondescript city in Turkey, and set out to reset the bar for quality research on the region.
Four years later, with established partnerships with the world’s leading humanitarian and refugee agencies and offices and staff in six countries, SREO has become a trusted institution that dozens of organizations rely on to better understand their work and the needs of those who desperately need it.
